Members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in McKinney (TX) used April as an opportunity to focus on their commitments to care for God's creation. They hosted a large Earth Care Sunday celebration on April 10, after the previous week's "Texas Trash Off" where 12 church members helped
The Sunday celebration included worship in which Old Testament scholar and geologist Phyllis Tippit preached on the earth belonging to everyone, and a church member shared a moving Moment for Mission on the affect of plastics on the ocean and environment.
During the Sunday School hour, the church had a focus on "Changing the Conversation about Creation Care."
In between services, an organic and locally sourced breakfast (including eggs from a church member's farm) was served while Texas Interfaith and Plano Solar Advocates hosted conversations and booths. Trinity's earth care team sold reusable bags and new reusable water bottles, to reduce plastic consumption. Two of the church's Good Earth Gardeners also had a table to share about the benefits of gardening.
