International Disasters

Natural and human-caused disasters are occurring with increasing frequency and intensity around the world. Because our faith calls us to love our neighbors, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, responds wherever needed to alleviate suffering by deploying aid, expertise, and resources.

Part of our international disaster relief work involves collaborating with partner organizations that have a presence in affected countries and provide immediate and long-term support, since the recovery process can take years.

The PC(USA) also serves refugees and migrants who have been displaced by war or other struggles, so they can receive food and shelter and acquire skills needed to support themselves and their families.

When responding to disasters, we recognize that local people and their faith communities have the best understanding of their own needs and cultural context. We strive to be good listeners and collaborators as our international neighbors work to build sustainable futures. This is part of our enduring witness to Christ's love worldwide.
