PPC’s Board of Directors names the Rev. Dr. Bridgett Green interim president and publisher

LOUISVILLE — The Presbyterian Publishing Corporation announced Monday that President and Publisher David Dobson will retire from the organization this spring. Current Vice President and Editorial Director the Rev. Dr. Bridgett Green has been named by the PPC Board of Directors to serve as Interim President and Publisher while a nationwide search is conducted for a permanent replacement.

“We are grateful for David’s leadership these last six years and for his 32 years of dedicated service to the corporation,” said David Maltby, chair of the board. “We are also thankful for Bridgett's stepping into this role and providing leadership at this critical juncture.”
Dobson joined the then Presbyterian Publishing House in July 1993, working as a copy editor for church school curriculum. In succeeding years, he served as an acquisitions editor for Geneva Press and Westminster John Knox Press, as a product manager, as marketing director, and as editorial director of Westminster John Knox Press. He was named president and publisher in 2019.
Along the way, Dobson served as editor of several popular PPC resources, including “The Gospel According to the Simpsons,” N.T. Wright’s For Everyone series, and the “Feasting on the Word” commentary series. The highlight of his career was serving as project manager for the Glory to God hymnal, the latest hymnal of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which was published in 2013.
“I have loved every minute of my career at PPC, and it is with a mixture of joy and regret that I leave,” Dobson said. “I believe strongly in this organization and its wonderful staff and look forward to seeing what they do in the future.”

Green joined PPC as vice president and editorial director in 2022. For the three years before that, she was an assistant professor of New Testament at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Prior to that, she served as an acquisitions editor for Westminster John Knox Press.
“David’s contribution to the continued success of PPC as a leading publisher for the academy, churches and people of faith cannot be overstated. I greatly appreciate his leadership and mentoring,” Green said. “I am also grateful for the board’s confidence in me to serve as the interim president as they conduct their search for PPC’s next permanent leader.”
Green has served the denomination in a variety of capacities since her graduation from Princeton Theological Seminary. This includes serving as associate in women’s and racial justice ministries in the PC(USA), volunteer staff and consultant for the General Assembly, workshop leader, preacher and teacher. She earned her doctorate in New Testament and early Christianity at Vanderbilt University. She has also served on the boards of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Montreat Conference Center and the Presbyterian Outlook.
The Presbyterian Publishing Corporation is the official publisher of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). It serves the church and academy through its Westminster John Knox Press book imprint, its Growing Faith Resources curriculum, and its PCUSAStore.com retail site.
