PHS LIVE Past Episode: African American Leaders & Congregations

On August 27, 2020, David Staniunas and Sonia Prescott led a Zoom webinar that looked at the African American Leaders & Congregations collecting initiative.

In recent years, PHS has brought human and capital resources to bear on collecting records of the African American Presbyterian experience--both the original records of African American congregations, and documentation of people’s lives and ministries. As a corrective measure for what Presbyterian historians have called a “historically racist ecclesiastical body,” PHS seeks to represent in the archives the integral presence of African Americans in the PC(USA).
