Committee on Theological Education
The Committee on Theological Education (COTE) was established by the General Assembly in 1986, three years after the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) was formed by the reunion of two Presbyterian denominations. COTE attends to the relationship between the PC(USA) and the theological institutions formally related to it.
COTE works with the Presbyterian Foundation on encouraging financial support of future ministers preparing at PC(USA)-related seminaries through the Theological Education Fund and the Theological Schools Endowment Fund.
Who serves on COTE?
Those serving on COTE include representatives of the denomination, who are elected by the General Assembly, and the presidents of the PC(USA)-related seminaries.
*The membership of COTE is not determined by the preexisting Presbyterian Mission Agency or Presbyterian Mission Agency Board.
