Local Mission

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) mid councils are deeply involved in mission and ministry at the local level – through their own programs, by collaborating with other faith communities, and by encouraging and supporting their congregations.

Mid councils provide congregations and worshiping communities with resources for engaging and meaningful worship, Christian education, service, and social justice advocacy. For example, helping Presbyterians meet the needs of hungry and unhoused neighbors, become more responsible stewards of the environment, or address gun violence in their communities.

Mid councils can provide needed support and resources for congregations in transition or seeking transformation. They can also function as incubators for new worshiping communities, which often provide a spiritual home for immigrant communities or creative expressions of faith in settings as varied as coffee shops, farms, and fitness centers.
