General Assembly Nominating Committee

The General Assembly Nominating Committee (GANC) is a 16-member committee nominated by the General Assembly Co-Moderators and elected by the General Assembly. Each member of the General Assembly Nominating Committee resides in one of the 16 synods of the church. It is entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring careful nominations of members of boards, commissions, and committees equipped for service on ongoing and standing committees, commissions, and board of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

The GA Nominating Committee can only consider active members and ministers of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), and in some limited positions, non-Presbyterians, for elected service on approximately 30 committees and commissions of the General Assembly. The GA Nominating Committee describes the opportunities for elected service in the church, invites those who feel called to serve to apply, and then discerns from among those who have applied those who God may be calling for particular service in the ministry and mission of that General Assembly board, committee, or commission. The GA Nominating Committee presents its slate of proposed nominees to each General Assembly for election.
