The PC(USA) has currently has no mission co-workers based in Lesotho, but mission co-worker Doug Tilton works with partners in Lesotho.
Doug Tilton serves as Regional Liaison for Southern Africa from his base in South Africa. He helps to maintain and build the PC(USA)’s relationship with Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa, to resource mission networks and partnerships, and to assist with administrative tasks.

Presbyterian World Mission works in partnership with the Lesotho Evangelical Church in Southern Africa. One of the oldest protestant churches in Africa, the Lesotho church traces its origins to the establishment of a mission station at Morija in 1833 by the Paris Evangelical Mission Society. Today, the church has more than 100 parishes and hundreds of preaching points organized into 12 presbyteries. The town of Morija remains the church’s spiritual heart, and it is home to Morija Theological Seminary, a Bible school, Scott Hospital (one of three Lesotho Evangelical-run health facilities), a college of nursing, the church’s radio station, printing press and bookstore, a museum, and the church archives. The church also retains a role in administering close to 600 primary and secondary schools, former church schools now financed and operated primarily by the government of Lesotho.

Join the South Africa and Lesotho Mission Network, one of more than 40 networks that connect Presbyterians who share a common mission interest. Most participants are involved in mission partnerships through congregations, presbyteries, or synods.
