Tropical Storm Ernesto

Ernesto impacted the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico overnight Aug. 13-14 as a strong tropical storm. Ernesto brought heavy rains and strong winds, resulting in widespread flooding and power outages.

Update 8/16/24:

Tropical Storm Ernesto brought severe weather to Puerto Rico, including tropical storm winds, wind gusts of 80-plus mph and over 10 inches of rain in some regions. Flooding and landslides were reported across the island, including many closed roads. Twelve out of the 19 reservoirs were in overflow levels by the morning of Aug. 15, when almost 455,000 people were still without power, including the whole municipality island of Vieques.
