Open for research.
In 1959, at the request of the Session of the Third Presbyterian Church in Chester, Pennsylvania, the Presbytery of Philadelphia appointed an Administrative Commission to investigate and resolve certain controversies within Third Church. The problems centered initially upon what the Commission perceived and eventually concluded was the undue influence of a faction of individuals within the Church. The Commission remained in existence until 1970 in order to resolve many of the other problems of the Church, including its proposed merger with the First Presbyterian Church in Chester.
This collection documents the work of the Administrative Commission with the Third Presbyterian Church, 1958-1970.
