The author of this journal is unknown. In November of 1822 he began a journey from Cincinnati to Natchez, traveling in a flat boat. The boat made several stops along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, and the traveler recorded impressions of these towns and cities, as well as noting weather conditions and people met and visited. He arrived in Natchez in April of 1823.
This journal was edited and transcribed for publication in the Journal of Presbyterian History, December 1943.
