Biographical Note
Cochran Forbes was born in Goshen, PA. He studied at Princeton Theological Seminary and was ordained by the Philadelphia Presbytery in 1831. He was a missionary of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions to the Hawaiian Islands throughout the 1830s and 1840s. Forbes served twelve years in Kalakeakua and another two years as a seaman's chaplain in Lahaina. After his return to the United States in 1848, he served various congregations in Pennsylvania and Indiana. He died in Philadelphia in 1880.
This collection consists of a letter written from Hawaii to Robert Love in 1832.
