Biographical Note
John Freeman was born in Rockford, IL. He graduated from Union Theological Seminary in 1894. During that year the Board of Foreign Missions appointed Freeman and his wife, Emma Hitchcock Freeman, to the Northern Laos Mission. They spent their careers working in Chiengmai, Burma and Indochina. John Freeman died in service in 1922.
This collection consists of Freeman's writings on the history of mission work in Siam, Burma and Indochina. It includes one manuscript by P. Jarillon, translated from the original French by Freeman, and one station letter written from Chiengmai station in northern Siam.
