Guide to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Women of Faith Bicentennial Project Collection
Open for research.
In 1987 the Presbyterian Historical Society solicited stories depicting "women of faith" as a program of the Bicentennial of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The stories were solicited through a form published in Concern Magazine, in which women were asked to describe "women who have touched your life and influenced your journey of faith." The stories were subsequently reviewed by the Presbyterian Women's office and Horizons (successor to Concern), and selections were published in the 1991 book, Rooted in Faith.
Record Group 281 contains all the entries submitted by women from 1987 to 1988. It also includes some longer stories submitted directly to the Presbyterian Women's office a year or so later. Also included are some other compilations of women's stories.
SERIES I: STORIES, 1987-circa 1988
The records were solicited by the PHS from various people. Responsibility for any quotations or extracts from these collections lies with the researcher, since no clear literary rights are given to the Presbyterian Historical Society.
