Guide to the Lydia Belle Walker Good Papers

Lydia B. Walker was born in Syracuse, NY in 1856. She graduated from Cooper Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, in 1873 and went on to teach among the American Indians in Odanah, Wisconsin. In 1876 she was appointed by the PCUSA to the Gaboon West Africa Mission and arrived there the following year. In 1883 she married the Rev. Adolphus Clemens Good in Gaboon where they stayed until his death in 1894. Lydia retired from the mission service a year later. In 1908 she was reappointed and assigned to the mission in Cameroon. After spending the war years in America Lydia Good resigned from the mission service in 1921.
The collection consists of two diaries which contain brief entries recording her daily activities.
