Guide to the McCague Family Papers

Thomas McCague (born 1825) and Henrietta Matilda Lowes McCague (born 1832) were appointed in 1854 by the Board of Foreign Missions of the Associate Reformed Church to the Egypt Mission. Until their return to America in 1861 they were primarily engaged in teaching and evangelisitic work in both Cairo and Alexandria.
This collection is comprised mainly of typed transcripts of Thomas and Henrietta McCague's outgoing and incoming correspondence, 1854-68; 1886. The original letters, where they exist, are included with the transcripts. Also includes Henrietta's journal, July-November 1854.
