Biographical Note
George Washington Shelton was ordained as a minister in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1896 after having received his B.A. from Normal University in Lebanon, Ohio. His pastoral service included calls at the First Church of Clarksville in Tennessee (1896-1899); First Church, Jackson, Tennessee (1899-1901); Russell Street Presbyterian Church in Nashville (1901-10); and the Second Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1910-36).
This collection consists of Dr. Shelton's scrapbooks which contain miscellaneous printed programs, photographs, poems and news clippings relating to his activities while at the First Presbyterian Church, the Russell Street Church and the Second Presbyterian Church.
