Biographical Note
Little has survived of Thomas Galt except for his last will and testament, dictated in 1778. He was a prosperous yeoman in Lancaster County, PA; he was married and the father of several children; he was presumably a Presbyterian, as he left the Pequea, PA Presbyterian Church a legacy of twelve pounds, ten shillings.
This collection consists of Galt's will and a document testifying that after Galt's death the will had been passed on to his executors. The will was made in 1778; Galt died in either 1781 or early in January of 1782.
