Guide to the Minnehaha Finney Papers
Open for research.
Minnehaha Finney was appointed by the Women's Board of Missions of the UPCNA in 1894 to the Egypt Mission. She performed educational work at Mansura and at the Central School for Girls at Alexandria. She developed a curriculum for girls' schools, introduced the kindergarten to Egypt and established The Training School for Women. In 1915 she began evangelistic work at Tanta in the Delta. She was appointed associate editor for Egypt for The Womens Missionary Magazine of the United Presbyterian Church and held that position until her retirement in 1937.
These papers consist of a variety of mostly undated manuscripts prepared for periodicals and pamphlets published by the Women's General Missionary Society. They deal with Egyptian life and culture and the work of the mission in Egypt. There is also a report of her plan, later implemented, for evangelistic work by railroad.
