For coffee lovers, getting a cup of coffee can be a process of carefully thought-out decisions. It involves not only deciding where to buy the coffee or whether to brew it at home but also considering what type of beans and which method of preparation will be used. Getting coffee isn’t always just something that happens; it can be a whole experience.

This can also be the way to approach our spiritual life. What if we were as intentional about nurturing our spirituality as we are about making a good cup of coffee?

In this webinar, we will think about how we make coffee and explore how each step can reflect the ways in which we nurture our spirituality. We will also consider how we, as ruling elders and deacons, can become more intentional about nurturing the spiritual lives of our communities.

This event is free for participants and made possible through per capita dollars. To ensure accessibility, the webinar will be provided in three languages, with interpretation available upon request during registration. To allow time for these arrangements, the registration deadline is Oct. 21, 2026. Advance registration is not required to access the recording, which will be available in English after the event.

This event will be led by Amos Joel Méndez Gutiérrez, who was ordained as a ruling elder at the age of 16 and then, in 2010, was ordained as a pastor at Iglesia Presbiteriana Juan Calvino (Juan Calvino Presbyterian Church) in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, where he continues to serve to this day. In 2012, he was elected Moderator of the Presbytery of the Northwest (PNO). He served on the search committee for the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly and was a member of the Committee on the Office of the General Assembly. Amos currently serves as Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of the Northwest, a position to which he was elected in 2025.

커피 애호가들에게 있어 커피 한 잔을 마시는 것은 신중하게 고민한 끝에 내리는 결정일지도 모릅니다. 이는 단순히 커피를 어디서 살지, 집에서 직접 내릴지 결정하는 것뿐만 아니라, 어떤 종류의 원두를 사용할지, 어떤 추출 방법을 택할지도 고려하는 과정을 포함합니다. 커피를 마시는 일은 언제나 그저 일상적으로 이루어지는 일이 아니라, 하나의 온전한 경험이 될 수 있습니다.

이는 우리의 영적 삶을 대하는 방식이 될 수도 있습니다. 만약 우리가 맛있는 커피 한 잔을 내리는 데 쏟는 만큼의 정성을 영성을 양육하는 데도 기울인다면 어떨까요?

이번 웨비나에서는 우리가 커피를 만드는 과정을 되짚어보고, 그 각각의 단계가 우리의 영성을 가꾸는 방식과 어떻게 연결될 수 있는지 생각해 봅니다. 또한 우리는 사역 장로와 집사로서, 우리 공동체의 영적 삶을 더 의도적으로 양육해 나갈 수 있는 방법을 모색할 것입니다.

본 행사는 상회비를 통해 지원되며 참가자에게 무료로 제공됩니다. 누구나 쉽게 참여할 수 있도록, 웨비나는 세 가지 언어로 제공되며, 등록 시 요청하시면, 통역을 제공해드립니다. 이러한 준비에 시간이 필요하기에, 2026년 10월 21일까지 등록해주시기를 부탁드립니다. 사전 등록 없이도 녹화본을 시청할 수 있으며, 녹화본은 행사 종료 후 영어로 제공됩니다.

이번 행사는 아모스 조엘 멘데스 구티에레즈가 주관할 예정입니다. 그는 16세에 사역 장로로 안수받았고, 이후 2010년에는 푸에르토리코 케브라디야스에 위치한 이글레시아 프레시비테리아나 후안 칼비노(후안 칼비노 장로교회)에서 목사로 안수받았습니다. 아모스는 현재까지도 그곳에서 사역하고 있습니다. 2012년에 그는 노스웨스트 노회(PNO)의 노회장으로 선출되었습니다. 그는 총회 정서기 선출위원회에서 활동했으며, 미국장로교 총회 사무국 위원회에서도 재직했습니다. 아모스는 현재 노스웨스트 노회의 서기로 재직 중이며, 2025년에 이 직책에 선출되었습니다.

Para los amantes del café, tomarse una taza puede ser un proceso que implica tomar decisiones muy meditadas. No solo conlleva decidir dónde comprar el café o si prepararlo en casa, sino también tener en cuenta qué tipo de granos y qué método de preparación se habrá de utilizar. Tomarse un café no siempre es algo que ocurre fortuitamente; puede ser una grandiosa experiencia.

Esta también puede ser la forma de abordar nuestra vida espiritual. ¿Qué pasaría si nos esforzáramos por cultivar la espiritualidad con el mismo empeño que ponemos en preparar una buena taza de café?

En este seminario web reflexionaremos sobre cómo se prepara el café, y analizaremos cómo cada paso puede reflejar las formas en que alimentamos nuestra espiritualidad. También reflexionaremos sobre cómo, en calidad de personas ordenadas como ancianas gobernantes y del diaconado, podemos dedicarnos de forma más consciente a nutrir la vida espiritual de nuestras comunidades.

Este evento es gratuito para los participantes y ha sido posible gracias a través de sus dólares por capitaciones. Para garantizar la accesibilidad, el seminario web se ofrecerá en varios idiomas y habrá servicio de interpretación disponible si se solicita durante la inscripción. Para dar tiempo a estos preparativos, el plazo de inscripción finaliza el 21 de octubre de 2026. No se requiere registrarse con antelación para acceder a la grabación, que estará disponible en inglés tras el evento.

Este acto estará dirigido por Amós Joel Méndez Gutiérrez, a quien se ordenó como anciano gobernante a los 16 años y posteriormente, en 2010, fue ordenado en el cargo pastoral de la Iglesia Presbiteriana “Juan Calvino”, en Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, donde sigue ejerciendo su ministerio en la actualidad. En 2012, se le eligió como moderador del Presbiterio del Noroeste (PNO). Fue integrante del comité de selección para el cargo de secretaria permanente de la Asamblea General y también de la Comisión de la Oficina de la Asamblea General. En la actualidad, Amós ocupa el cargo de secretario permanente del Presbiterio del Noroeste, cargo que fue elegido en 2025.
