Project Return for Student Records

The Presbyterian Historical Society serves as the repository for student records from several closed Presbyterian-affiliated Native American schools, colleges, and orphanages. PHS is pleased to partner with the Native Policy Lab on Project Return, an initiative that aims to provide copies of student records to Indian Boarding School survivors and their families. Former students of the following six schools may request copies of their student file using the webform below.

American Indian Institute
Cook College and Theological School
Dwight Indian Training School
Ganado Mission High School
Haines House
Tucson Indian Training School

Please review the linked collection guides listed above to confirm we hold your student file in our collections before making a request. Lists of student names can be found in the Collection Inventory section of each guide.

Access to student records is restricted for living individuals. Please refer to the PHS Access Policy for more information. This free service is currently limited to the student named in the records. 

There is no charge for this service. You may choose to receive a scanned PDF copy of your student file via email or paper photocopies via postal mail. After your request is received, please allow approximately 2 to 4 weeks for your file to be delivered. Please note that it will take additional time for your file to be delivered through the United States Postal Service.
