First Thessalonians 5:17 encourages us to pray continually. Following a disaster, our best response is first to seek God's presence on behalf of those in need.

Prayers
God of the sojourner, you know every road those who migrate have walked and every door that closed behind them. Give them safe welcome, steady work, and neighbors who see them as kin rather than strangers. Keep their families whole and their hope alive until home means somewhere again. Amen.
Faithful God, be with the communities who have survived tornadoes as they begin the long work of rebuilding. Give them patience for what takes time and companions for what cannot be done alone. May your Spirit sustain their hope through the seasons ahead. Amen.
Loving God, we pray that your presence may be near to those who have lost their homes and much of what filled them due to wildfires. Comfort them in their grief and provide for their daily needs. Lead them gently toward a place to settle again. Amen.
God of strength, watch over those who serve in difficult and dangerous work. Give them wisdom in their decisions, rest after their labor, and care for what they carry home. Surround them with people who support them well and may they feel our gratitude. Amen.
