Guest Post by Elizabeth Belcher
As One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) stories come in, we love to share the unique ideas from each congregation. Today’s post is provided by Elizabeth Belcher, Director of Children’s Ministries at Orchard Lake Community Church, Presbyterian.
This year, when the kids did their OGHS fish boxes, we wanted something more tangible for them to work towards. So, I made a bulletin board using animals from the catalog. We talked about how the money we raised could buy animals to help families get food and help them work. We had to clarify several times that the animals would not be coming to our church! We took the money from the kids’ boxes, a noisy offering that they did and a few other donations, totaled it, then let the kids decide what they would like to purchase with their money. They did a fantastic job and had a great time doing it!
- 1 mule share
- 1 bee keeping kit
- 1 pair of goats
- 3 piglets
- 3 families of chickens
- 1 set of tilapia fingerlings
