Presbyterians call for seven days of prayer and action to end human trafficking
PC(USA) Human Trafficking Roundtable hopes for end to ‘global epidemic’
Beginning January 5 and leading up to national Human Trafficking Awareness Day on January 11, members of the PC(USA) Human Trafficking Roundtable are calling all Presbyterians to prayer and action to end the scourge of human trafficking.
“It’s important that we each ask what we can do to make a difference in this global epidemic,” says Shannon Beck, reconciliation catalyst with Presbyterian World Mission. “We can pray. We can educate ourselves and others. We can take action.”
Though illegal in every country an estimated 21 million people are victims of forced labor and sexual servitude worldwide, according to the International Labour Organization, an agency of the United Nations. Many, but not all, of those people have been trafficked.
