If we had faith

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” The Lord replied, “If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”– Luke 7:44-50
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed
we would open the doors of our temples and our hearts
without judging those who doubt they will be well received
O God, uprooter of falsehood and planter of truth,
increase our faith
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed
we would welcome newcomers with open arms
without listening to those who want removal decreed
O God, uprooter of falsehood and planter of truth,
increase our faith
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed
we would lend a hand to the sick and the marginalized
without endorsing those who claim contagiousness is guaranteed
O God, uprooter of falsehood and planter of truth,
increase our faith
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed
we would place additional chairs at the table
without fearing those who might take up our seats
O God, uprooter of falsehood and planter of truth,
increase our faith
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed
we would share our meal with the hungry and the unemployed
without supporting those who say, ‘work harder and you’ll succeed’
O God, uprooter of falsehood and planter of truth,
increase our faith
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed
we would join in the feast with our neighbors near and far
without condemning those who profess a different creed
O God, uprooter of falsehood and planter of truth,
increase our faith
If we had faith the size of a mustard seed
we would covenant with our friends and even with enemies
without rejecting those who build a world of peace with words and deeds

increase our faith

Los apóstoles le dijeron al Señor: “Auméntanos la fe”. Entonces el Señor les dijo: “Si ustedes tuvieran fe del tamaño de un grano de mostaza, podrían decirle a este sicómoro: ‘Desarráigate, y plántate en el mar’, y el sicómoro los obedecería”.– Lucas 77:5-6
Si tuviéramos fe del tamaño de un grano de mostaza
abriríamos las puertas del templo y el corazón
sin juzgar a quienes dudan que les permitamos entrar
Dios desarraigador de la falsedad y plantador de la verdad,
auméntanos la fe
Si tuviéramos fe del tamaño de un grano de mostaza
recibiríamos con los brazos abiertos a los recién llegados
sin escuchar a quienes decretan que los debemos expulsar

Si tuviéramos fe del tamaño de un grano de mostaza
extenderíamos la mano a los enfermos y los marginados
sin validar a quienes afirman que nos van a contagiar

pactaríamos con nuestros amigos e incluso con nuestros enemigos
sin rechazar a quienes colaboren de palabra y hechos para un mundo de paz edificar
