Caring enough

He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them. That evening, at sundown, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. – Mark 1:31-32

He came...
Jesus cared enough to approach
those who had been alienated,
mingling with the undesirables
and putting himself on the line.
He took their hand...
Jesus cared enough to engage
those who had been marginalized,
shedding the fear of the unknown
and creating healing space and time.
He lifted them up...
Jesus cared enough to respect
those who had been ostracized,
opening the way for restoration
and giving stale systems new life.
And Jesus still comes,
takes our hand, lifts us up,
hoping we might care enough
to approach, to engage, and to respect
the hurting and the vulnerable
in our midst and in our world
so that true miracles
of renewal and transformation
can continue to occur.
Preocuparse lo suficiente

Jesús se acercó y, tomándola de la mano, la ayudó a levantarse. Al instante la fiebre se le fue, y ella comenzó a atenderlos. Al anochecer, cuando el sol se puso, llevaron a Jesús a todos los que estaban enfermos y endemoniados. – Marcos 1:31-32
Se acercó...
Jesús se preocupó lo suficiente como para acercarse
a la gente que había sido aislada,
mezclándose con los indeseables
y arriesgando su propia vida.
Les tomó la mano...
Jesús se preocupó lo suficiente como para participar
con la gente que había sido marginada,
deshaciéndose del miedo a lo desconocido
y creando espacios y momentos de sanidad.
Los levantó...
Jesús se preocupó lo suficiente como para respetar
a la gente que había sido repudiada,
abriendo un camino para la restauración
y dándoles nueva vida a los sistemas caducados.
Y Jesús todavía viene,
nos toma de la mano, nos levanta,
con la esperanza de que nos preocupemos lo suficiente
como para acercarnos, participar y respetar
a la gente dolida y vulnerable
a nuestro alrededor y en nuestro mundo
para que verdaderos milagros
de renovación y transformación
puedan continuar ocurriendo.
