And immediately they left their nets and followed him. – Mark 1:18

Read the full lectionary passage here

Jesus called disciples:

Simon, Andrew, James, and John,

Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Martha, and Susanna,

and they immediately left their nets,

without objection, without complaint,

without fear, and without delay,

opening themselves

to new teachings, new adventures,

new communities, and new ways.

Jesus calls us to discipleship:

men and women, young and old,

black and white, shy and bold,

and we immediately grip our nets,

raising objections, lodging complaints,

exhibiting fear, and causing delays,

distancing ourselves

from new teachings, new adventures,

new communities, and new ways.

God of the ocean and the wave,

walk by the shore of our lives

and call us anew to follow you

into unknown waters and uncharted seas

of greater faithfulness and compassion

in the service of creation and humanity.

Llamados, llamadas al discipulado

Un recurso para la liturgia dominical del 21 de enero

por Magdalena I. García

Enseguida, ellos dejaron sus redes y lo siguieron. – Marcos 1:18

Lea el pasaje completo aquí

Jesús llamó discípulos y discípulas:

Simón, Andrés, Jacobo y Juan,

María Magdalena, Juana, Marta y Susana,

e inmediatamente dejaron sus redes,

sin objetar, sin quejarse,

sin asustarse y sin demorarse,

abriendo sus vidas

a nuevas enseñanzas, nuevas aventuras,

nuevas comunidades y nuevos caminos.

Jesús nos llama al discipulado:

hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y ancianos,

negros y blancos, audaces y apocados,

e inmediatamente empuñamos nuestras redes,

levantando objeciones, presentando quejas,

exhibiendo temores y provocando demoras,

distanciándonos

de nuevas enseñanzas, nuevas aventuras,

nuevas comunidades y nuevos caminos.

Dios del océano y la ola,

camina por la ribera de nuestras vidas

y llámanos de nuevo a seguirte

por aguas desconocidas y mares inexplorados

de mayor fidelidad y compasión

al servicio de la humanidad y la creación.
