Two orchids sit on my kitchen table
and I’m keeping watch over their life,
encouraging them to be patient,
to extend their roots,
to grow new leaves,
to wait for the blooms,
to trust the process.

to trust the process.
God of Advent, you who never tire
of keeping watch over our lives,
teach us to honor your image in us
by looking after each other
and protecting your creation,
so that the whole world can see
glimmers of your light
and live with holy expectation.

Hay dos orquídeas en la mesa de mi cocina
y yo estoy vigilando su vida,
alentándolas a ser pacientes,
a extender sus raíces,
a echar nuevas hojas,
a esperar por las flores,
a confiar en el proceso.
Hay dos orquídeas en la mesa de mi cocina
y ellas están vigilando mi vida,
alentándome a ser paciente,
a extender mis raíces,
a echar nuevas hojas,
a esperar por las flores,
a confiar en el proceso.
Dios del Adviento, tú que nunca te cansas
de estar vigilando nuestras vidas,
enséñanos a honrar tu imagen en nuestro ser
al cuidarnos mutuamente
y proteger tu creación,
para que todo el mundo pueda ver
destellos de tu luz
y vivir con santa expectación.
