“Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it?”   Luke 15:4

gathered at church safe and sound

sheltered from the threats all around

we are the ninety nine

singing in harmony familiar songs

drowning out the chorus of wrongs

we are the ninety nine

praying for healing and world peace

failing to act so that violence may cease

we are the ninety nine

setting the table with freshly-baked bread

forgetting that hunger is widespread

we are the ninety nine

Forgive us, Seeking God,

for taking refuge in worldly comforts

forgetting that you aid humankind

going all out, sparing no efforts.

Remind us, Gathering God,

that we are part of a whole

and that your Body is incomplete

even with one missing soul.

reunidos en el templo con plena seguridad

aislados de la amenaza de toda adversidad

somos las noventa y nueve

entonando himnos, alabando con los labios

ahogando el coro de atropellos y agravios

somos las noventa y nueve

orando por la sanidad y la paz mundial

fallando en actuar por el bienestar social

somos las noventa y nueve

poniendo la mesa con pan recién horneado

olvidando que el hambre acecha por todos lados

somos las noventa y nueve

Perdónanos, Dios Buscador,

por refugiarnos en la comodidad

olvidando que tú no escatimas esfuerzos

para socorrer a la humanidad.

Recuérdanos, Dios Reunidor,

que somos parte de la totalidad

y que tu Cuerpo está incompleto

mientras falte alguien en la comunidad.
