A litany for the lighting of the Advent wreath

ADVENT 1
Into the darkness of our apathy,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your care.
Into the darkness of our fear,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your assurance.
Into the darkness of our despair,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your hope.
Come, God of light, and ignite our lives
with a yearning for justice and compassion.
ADVENT 2
Into the darkness of our greed,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your generosity,
Into the darkness of our hostility,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your goodwill.
Into the darkness of our enmity,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your peace.
Come, God of light, and ignite our lives
with a yearning for justice and compassion.
ADVENT 3
Into the darkness of our sadness,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your gladness.
Into the darkness of our grief,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your comfort.
Into the darkness of our anguish,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your joy.
Come, God of light, and ignite our lives
with a yearning for justice and compassion.
ADVENT 4
Into the darkness of our prejudices,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your acceptance.
Into the darkness of our disagreements,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your reconciliation.
Into the darkness of our hatred,
come, Lord Jesus, and bring the light of your love.
Come, God of light, and ignite our lives
with a yearning for justice and compassion.
CHRISTMAS EVE OR DAY
Our Advent vigil is complete,
but our longing for wholeness continues.
As we light the Advent wreath,
we pray for God’s vision
to be rekindled in our hearts.
As we light the Christ candle,
we pray for God's mercy
to be reignited in our lives.
And we commit ourselves anew
to work for the healing of the world and creation,
until the darkness of discord and violence
have no shelter, no place, no habitation.

ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu cuidado.
A la oscuridad de nuestro miedo,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu seguridad.
A la oscuridad de nuestra desolación,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu esperanza.
Ven, Dios de luz, y enciende nuestras vidas
con el anhelo de justicia y compasión.
ADVIENTO 2
A la oscuridad de nuestra avaricia,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu generosidad.
A la oscuridad de nuestra hostilidad,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu buena voluntad.
A la oscuridad de nuestra enemistad,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu paz.
Ven, Dios de luz, y enciende nuestras vidas
con el anhelo de justicia y compasión.

A la oscuridad de nuestra tristeza,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu alegría.
A la oscuridad de nuestro duelo,

ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu gozo.
Ven, Dios de luz, y enciende nuestras vidas
con el anhelo de justicia y compasión.
ADVIENTO 4
A la oscuridad de nuestros prejuicios,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu aceptación.
A la oscuridad de nuestros desacuerdos,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu reconciliación.
A la oscuridad de nuestro odio,
ven, Señor Jesús, y trae la luz de tu amor.
Ven, Dios de luz, y enciende nuestras vidas
con el anhelo de justicia y compasión.
DÍA DE NOCHEBUENA O NAVIDAD
Nuestra vigilia de Adviento ha terminado,
pero nuestro anhelo de integridad continúa.
Al encender la corona de Adviento,
oramos porque la visión de Dios
se reavive en nuestros corazones.
Al encender la vela de Cristo,
oramos porque la misericordia de Dios
se inflame en nuestras vidas.
Y nos comprometemos nuevamente
a luchar por la sanación del mundo y la creación,
hasta que la oscuridad de la discordia y la violencia
no hallen refugio, ni lugar, ni habitación.
