Guide to the Finks Family Papers
Open for research.
Nettie Velier Rogers was born on July 6, 1849, and educated at Homer Academy in New York. She and the Rev. Delos Edwin Finks were married in 1873 in Geneva, NY. D.E. Finks was born in 1842. He attended Hamilton College and Auburn Theological Seminary.
After their marriage, the Finks moved to Fairplay, CO as pioneer evangelical workers in the home mission field. They remained in Colorado until 1887. At that time, D.E. Finks became a lecturer for the Board of Home Missions, and Nettie Finks was appointed secretary of the Woman's Board of Home Missions. She also became editor of the Board's Home Mission Monthly, a post she retained until her death in 1911. D.E. Finks died in 1913.
The Finks Papers are comprised of biographical materials and photographs; a file of poetry by and memorial materials on Nettie Finks; correspondence and reminiscences by D.E. Finks; publications and advertisements relating to his career as a lecturer; and six diaries he kept between 1862 and 1880.

SERIES 2: DELOS EDWIN FINKS, 1863-1913
The arrangement of this collection was somewhat dictated by the desirability of housing the diaries in a separate box from the flat materials, in consideration of their shape and size.
