Guide to the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. Commission on Ecumenical Mission and Relations Secretaries' Files: Mission to Indonesia
Open for research.
No strictly Presbyterian Mission was operative in Indonesia, 1950-70, though Presbyterian Missionaries worked throughout the country in the post-WW II ecumenical mission. The Rev. Winburn T. Thomas was the initial Presbyterian (PCUSA) Field Administrator in the Mission, and he represented also such offices as the Division of Church World Service (NCC), Division of Interchurch Aid and Refugee World Service (WCC), and the Foreign Missions Division/Southeast Asia Sub-Committee (NCC).
Record Group 135 includes correspondence and reports from the Indonesia mission, 1950-1970. The records are arranged chronologically.
As the work in Indonesia during this period of time was ecumenical, these records represent the National and World Councils of Churches as well as the Board of Foreign Missions and the Commission on Ecumenical Mission and Relation
