Daily Readings

¹   The LORD answer you in the day of trouble!
          The name of the God of Jacob protect you!
²   May he send you help from the sanctuary,
          and give you support from Zion.
³   May he remember all your offerings,
          and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices.                    Selah

⁴   May he grant your heart’s desire
          and fulfill all your plans.
⁵   May we shout for joy over your victory,
          and in the name of our God set up our banners.
     May the LORD fulfill all your petitions.

⁶   Now I know that the LORD will help his anointed;
          he will answer him from his holy heaven
          with mighty victories by his right hand.
⁷   Some take pride in chariots, and some in horses,
          but our pride is in the name of the LORD our God.
⁸   They will collapse and fall,
          but we shall rise and stand upright.

⁹   Give victory to the king, O LORD;
          answer us when we call.

¹   Praise the Lord!
     Praise the Lord from the heavens;
          praise him in the heights!
²   Praise him, all his angels;
          praise him, all his host!

³   Praise him, sun and moon;
          praise him, all you shining stars!
⁴   Praise him, you highest heavens,
          and you waters above the heavens!

⁵   Let them praise the name of the Lord,
          for he commanded and they were created.
⁶   He established them forever and ever;
          he fixed their bounds, which cannot be passed.

⁷   Praise the Lord from the earth,
          you sea monsters and all deeps,
⁸   fire and hail, snow and frost,
          stormy wind fulfilling his command!

⁹   Mountains and all hills,
          fruit trees and all cedars!
¹⁰  Wild animals and all cattle,
          creeping things and flying birds!

¹¹  Kings of the earth and all peoples,
          princes and all rulers of the earth!
¹²  Young men and women alike,
          old and young together!

¹³  Let them praise the name of the Lord,
          for his name alone is exalted;
          his glory is above earth and heaven.
¹⁴  He has raised up a horn for his people,
          praise for all his faithful,
          for the people of Israel who are close to him.
     Praise the Lord!

¹Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. ²There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. ³Then Moses said, “I must turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up.” ⁴When the LORD saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” ⁵Then he said, “Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”

²³By faith Moses was hidden by his parents for three months after his birth, because they saw that the child was beautiful; and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. ²⁴By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called a son of Pharaoh’s daughter, ²⁵choosing rather to share ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. ²⁶He considered abuse suffered for the Christ to be greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to the reward. ²⁷By faith he left Egypt, unafraid of the king’s anger; for he persevered as though he saw him who is invisible. ²⁸By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

²⁹By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as if it were dry land, but when the Egyptians attempted to do so they were drowned. ³⁰By faith the walls of Jericho fell after they had been encircled for seven days. ³¹By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had received the spies in peace.

⁶Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ⁷If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

⁸Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” ⁹Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? ¹⁰Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. ¹¹Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. ¹²Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. ¹³I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴If in my name you ask me for anything, I will do it.”

¹   The LORD is king, he is robed in majesty;
          the LORD is robed, he is girded with strength.
     He has established the world; it shall never be moved;
²        your throne is established from of old;
          you are from everlasting.

³   The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
          the floods have lifted up their voice;
          the floods lift up their roaring.
⁴   More majestic than the thunders of mighty waters,
          more majestic than the waves of the sea,
          majestic on high is the LORD!

⁵   Your decrees are very sure;
          holiness befits your house,
          O LORD, forevermore.

¹   The LORD is king! Let the earth rejoice;
          let the many coastlands be glad!
²   Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
          righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
³   Fire goes before him,
          and consumes his adversaries on every side.
⁴   His lightnings light up the world;
          the earth sees and trembles.
⁵   The mountains melt like wax before the LORD,
          before the Lord of all the earth.

⁶   The heavens proclaim his righteousness;
          and all the peoples behold his glory.
⁷   All worshipers of images are put to shame,
          those who make their boast in worthless idols;
          all gods bow down before him.
⁸   Zion hears and is glad,
          and the towns of Judah rejoice,
          because of your judgments, O God.
⁹   For you, O LORD, are most high over all the earth;
          you are exalted far above all gods.

¹⁰  The LORD loves those who hate evil;
          he guards the lives of his faithful;
          he rescues them from the hand of the wicked.
¹¹  Light dawns for the righteous,
          and joy for the upright in heart.
¹²  Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous,
          and give thanks to his holy name!
