Moderators' Conference

The 2026 Moderators’ Conference will be hosted by the Co-Moderators of the 227^th General Assembly (2026), along with Presbyterian Life & Witness staff, November 19–21, 2026 at the Presbyterian Center in Louisville and online. Synods and presbyteries are encouraged to send their moderator, vice moderator, and/or moderator-elect so that they can benefit from preparing for their term of service with peers from across the denomination. Registrants can expect worship, a variety of workshops, and an introduction to practical skills such as parliamentary procedure and other aspects of leading meetings.

The in-person fee is $175, which includes the opening reception, Friday lunch, Friday dinner, and Saturday lunch, all provided at the Presbyterian Center. The participant’s mid council is also responsible for travel and hotel expenses and meals when not at the conference site. For those who cannot travel, there is an online option for $80. 

The event begins Thursday evening with a welcome reception from 5:00–6:30 and concludes by 4:00 p.m. Saturday, so participants should plan to travel on Thursday and Sunday. The deadline to register is October 20, and this is also the cutoff date to reserve a hotel room at the conference rate. 

The schedule includes:

• Worship in the Chapel of the Presbyterian Center
• Plenaries including: the purpose of a presbytery/synod, roles of a moderator, parliamentary procedure and other discernment processes, and more. All worship and plenaries will be accessible to online participants
• Three sessions of workshops on a variety of topics, with at least two workshops in each session accessible to online participants. Attendees will indicate workshop preferences as they register to help determine whether and how each is offered
