Daily Readings

1   Sólo en Dios encuentro paz;
          mi salvación viene de él.
2   Sólo él me salva y me protege,
          mi refugio; no caeré jamás.

3   ¿Hasta cuándo me atacarán ustedes,
          quieren derribarme todos,
          como a una pared que se derrumba, una cerca a punto de caer?
4   Sólo piensan en hacer caer al que sobresale.
          Se deleitan en la mentira;
     me alaban con los labios,
          pero me maldicen por dentro. Selah

5   Sólo en Dios encuentro paz,
          pues mi esperanza viene de él.
6   Sólo él me salva y me protege,
          mi refugio; no caeré.
7   De Dios dependen mi salvación y mi honor;
          mi roca poderosa, mi refugio está en Dios.

8   ¡Confíen en él en todo momento, pueblo mío!
          ¡Ábranle su corazón!
          ¡Dios es nuestro refugio! Selah

9   La gente humilde no es más que un suspiro,
          la gente poderosa es pura ilusión;
     puestos juntos en la balanza,
          pesan menos que un soplo.
10  No confíen en la violencia,
          ni se ilusionen con el robo;
          aunque aumenten sus riquezas, no pongan en ellas el corazón.

11  Una vez habló Dios,
          y dos veces lo he escuchado:
     que el poder es de Dios,
12       y tuyo es, Señor, el amor leal.
     Porque tú pagas a cada uno
          conforme a lo que haya hecho.

1 (1b) Hablaré de tu grandeza, mi Dios y Rey;
bendeciré tu nombre por siempre.
2 Diariamente te bendeciré;
alabaré tu nombre por siempre.
3 El Señor es grande y muy digno de alabanza;
su grandeza excede nuestro entendimiento.

4 De padres a hijos se alabarán tus obras,
se anunciarán tus hechos poderosos.
5 Se hablará de tu majestad gloriosa,
y yo hablaré de tus maravillas.
6 Se hablará de tus hechos poderosos y terribles,
y yo hablaré de tu grandeza.
7 Se hablará de tu bondad inmensa,
y a gritos se dirá que tú eres justo.

8 El Señor es tierno y compasivo,
es paciente y todo amor.
9 El Señor es bueno para con todos,
y con ternura cuida sus obras.

10 ¡Que te alaben, Señor, todas tus obras!
¡Que te bendigan tus fieles!
11 ¡Que hablen del esplendor de tu reino!
¡Que hablen de tus hechos poderosos!
12 ¡Que se haga saber a los hombres tu poder
y el gran esplendor de tu reino!
13 Tu reino es un reino eterno,
tu dominio es por todos los siglos.

14 El Señor sostiene a los que caen
y levanta a los que desfallecen.
15 Los ojos de todos esperan de ti
que tú les des su comida a su tiempo.
16 Abres tu mano, y con tu buena voluntad
satisfaces a todos los seres vivos.
17 El Señor es justo en sus caminos,
bondadoso en sus acciones.
18 El Señor está cerca de los que lo invocan,
de los que lo invocan con sinceridad.
19 Él cumple los deseos de los que lo honran;
cuando le piden ayuda, los oye y los salva.
20 El Señor protege a los que lo aman,
pero destruye a los malvados.

21 ¡Que mis labios alaben al Señor!
¡Que todos bendigan su santo nombre,
ahora y siempre!

¹⁷  Rouse yourself, rouse yourself!
          Stand up, O Jerusalem,
     you who have drunk at the hand of the LORD
          the cup of his wrath,
     who have drunk to the dregs
          the bowl of staggering.
¹⁸  There is no one to guide her
          among all the children she has borne;
     there is no one to take her by the hand
          among all the children she has brought up.
¹⁹  These two things have befallen you
          — who will grieve with you? —
     devastation and destruction, famine and sword —
          who will comfort you?
²⁰  Your children have fainted,
          they lie at the head of every street
          like an antelope in a net;
     they are full of the wrath of the LORD,
          the rebuke of your God.

²¹  Therefore hear this, you who are wounded,
          who are drunk, but not with wine:
²²  Thus says your Sovereign, the LORD,
          your God who pleads the cause of his people:
     See, I have taken from your hand the cup of staggering;
     you shall drink no more
          from the bowl of my wrath.
²³  And I will put it into the hand of your tormentors,
          who have said to you,
          “Bow down, that we may walk on you”;
     and you have made your back like the ground
          and like the street for them to walk on.

¹My point is this: heirs, as long as they are minors, are no better than slaves, though they are the owners of all the property; ²but they remain under guardians and trustees until the date set by the father. ³So with us; while we were minors, we were enslaved to the elemental spirits of the world. ⁴But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, ⁵in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as children. ⁶And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” ⁷So you are no longer a slave but a child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.

⁸Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to beings that by nature are not gods. ⁹Now, however, that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again to the weak and beggarly elemental spirits? How can you want to be enslaved to them again? ¹⁰You are observing special days, and months, and seasons, and years. ¹¹I am afraid that my work for you may have been wasted.

²⁴From there he set out and went away to the region of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know he was there. Yet he could not escape notice, ²⁵but a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit immediately heard about him, and she came and bowed down at his feet. ²⁶Now the woman was a Gentile, of Syrophoenician origin. She begged him to cast the demon out of her daughter. ²⁷He said to her, “Let the children be fed first, for it is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” ²⁸But she answered him, “Sir, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.” ²⁹Then he said to her, “For saying that, you may go — the demon has left your daughter.” ³⁰So she went home, found the child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

³¹Then he returned from the region of Tyre, and went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. ³²They brought to him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they begged him to lay his hand on him. ³³He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat and touched his tongue. ³⁴Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” ³⁵And immediately his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. ³⁶Then Jesus ordered them to tell no one; but the more he ordered them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. ³⁷They were astounded beyond measure, saying, “He has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

1   ¡Qué bueno es Dios con Israel,
          con los de limpio corazón!
2   Pero por poco resbalan mis pies;
          casi caigo al perder el equilibrio.
3   Porque tuve envidia de los arrogantes,
          al ver la prosperidad de los malvados.

4   No sufren dolores;
          su cuerpo es fuerte y saludable.
5   No pasan trabajos como los demás;
          no son azotados como otros mortales.
6   Por eso el orgullo es su collar;
          la violencia los cubre como un manto.
7   Se les saltan los ojos por la gordura;
          rebosan malicia en el corazón.
8   Hablan con burla y maldad;
          con altanería amenazan opresión.
9   Abren la boca contra el cielo,
          y su lengua recorre la tierra.

10  Por eso el pueblo se vuelve a ellos
          y no les halla culpa alguna.
11  Y dicen: “¿Acaso Dios sabe algo?
          ¿Tiene conocimiento el Altísimo?”
12  Así son los malvados:
          tranquilos, aumentan sus riquezas.
13  En vano he limpiado mi corazón
          y lavado mis manos en inocencia.
14  Todo el día me golpean,
          y cada mañana me castigan.

15  Si yo hubiera hablado como ellos,
          habría traicionado a tus hijos.
16  Trataba de entender todo esto,
          pero me resultaba muy difícil,
17  hasta que entré en el santuario de Dios;
          entonces comprendí su destino.
18  Ciertamente los pones en lugares resbaladizos;
          los arrojas a la ruina.
19  ¡Cómo son destruidos en un momento,
          barridos por terrores repentinos!
20  Como un sueño al despertar, Señor,
          al levantarte, desprecias su imagen.

21  Cuando mi alma se amargaba,
          y sentía punzadas en mi corazón,
22  yo era torpe, sin entendimiento;
          ante ti era como una bestia.
23  Sin embargo, siempre estoy contigo;
          tú me tomas de la mano derecha.
24  Me guías con tu consejo,
          y después me recibirás con honor.
25  ¿A quién tengo en el cielo sino a ti?
          Y fuera de ti, nada deseo en la tierra.
26  Mi carne y mi corazón desfallecen,
          pero Dios es la fortaleza de mi corazón y mi porción eterna.

27  Ciertamente, los que se alejan de ti perecerán;
          tú destruyes a los infieles.
28  Pero para mí es bueno estar cerca de Dios;
          he puesto mi refugio en el Señor DIOS,
          para contar todas tus obras.

1   Oh Señor,
          quiero alabarte con todo el corazón;
          quiero contar tus muchas maravillas.
2   Oh Altísimo,
          por ti quiero gritar lleno de alegría;
          ¡quiero cantar himnos a tu nombre!

3   Mis enemigos huyen delante de ti;
          caen y mueren.
4   Tú eres juez justo:
          te has sentado en tu trono, para hacerme justicia.

5   Has reprendido a los paganos,
          has destruido a los malvados,
          ¡has borrado su recuerdo para siempre!
6   El enemigo ha muerto,
          y con él han muerto sus ciudades;
          tú las destruiste,
          y no quedó de ellas ni el recuerdo.

7   Pero el Señor es Rey por siempre;
          ha afirmado su trono para el juicio:
8   juzgará al mundo con justicia,
          dictará a los pueblos justa sentencia.

9   El Señor protege a los oprimidos;
          él los protege en tiempos de angustia.
10   Señor,
          los que te conocen, confían en ti,
          pues nunca abandonas a quienes te buscan.

11   Canten himnos al Señor, que reina en Sión;
          anuncien a los pueblos lo que ha hecho.
12   Dios se acuerda de los afligidos
          y no olvida sus lamentos;
          castiga a quienes les hacen violencia.

13   Señor, ten compasión de mí,
          mira cómo me afligen los que me odian,
          ¡sácame de las puertas de la muerte!
14   Y así, a las puertas de Jerusalén,
          diré a todo el mundo que tú eres digno de alabanza,
          y que yo soy feliz porque me has salvado.

15   Los paganos caen en su propia trampa;
          sus pies quedan atrapados
          en la red que ellos mismos escondieron.
16   El Señor se ha dado a conocer:
          ¡ha hecho justicia!
          El malvado queda preso
          en la trampa tendida por él mismo. Higgaion. Selah

17   Los malvados y paganos,
          los que se olvidan de Dios,
          acabarán en el reino de la muerte;
18   pues no siempre serán olvidados los pobres,
          ni para siempre se perderá su esperanza.

19   Levántate, Señor;
          no consientas la altanería del hombre;
          ¡juzga a los paganos en tu presencia!
20   Hazles sentir temor, Señor;
          ¡hazles saber que no son más que hombres!
