Daily Readings

1   Bendeciré al Señor con toda mi alma;
          bendeciré con todo mi ser su santo nombre.
2   Bendeciré al Señor con toda mi alma;
          no olvidaré ninguno de sus beneficios.
3   Él es quien perdona todas mis maldades,
          quien sana todas mis enfermedades,
4   quien libra mi vida del sepulcro,
          quien me colma de amor y ternura,
5   quien me satisface con todo lo mejor
          y me rejuvenece como un águila.

6   El Señor juzga con verdadera justicia
          a los que sufren violencia.
7   Dio a conocer sus caminos y sus hechos
          a Moisés y al pueblo de Israel.
8   El Señor es tierno y compasivo;
          es paciente y todo amor.
9   No nos reprende en todo tiempo ni su rencor es eterno;
          10  no nos ha dado el pago que merecen
          nuestras maldades y pecados;
11  tan inmenso es su amor por los que lo honran
          como inmenso es el cielo sobre la tierra.
12  Nuestros pecados ha alejado de nosotros,
          como ha alejado del oriente el occidente.
13  El Señor es, con los que lo honran,
          tan tierno como un padre con sus hijos;
14  pues él sabe de qué estamos hechos:
          sabe bien que somos polvo.

15  La vida del hombre es como la hierba;
          brota como una flor silvestre:
16  tan pronto la azota el viento, deja de existir,
          y nadie vuelve a saber de ella.
17  Pero el amor del Señor es eterno
          para aquellos que lo honran;
          su justicia es infinita
          por todas las generaciones,
18  para los que cumplen con su alianza
          y no se olvidan de obedecer sus mandatos.
19  El Señor ha puesto su trono en el cielo,
          y su reino domina sobre todo.

20  ¡Bendigan al Señor, ángeles poderosos!
          Ustedes, que cumplen sus órdenes,
          que están atentos a obedecerlo.
21  ¡Bendigan al Señor todos sus ejércitos,
          que lo sirven y hacen su voluntad!
22  ¡Bendiga al Señor la creación entera,
          en todos los lugares de su reino!

¡Bendeciré al Señor con toda mi alma!

¡Alábenlo en su majestuosa bóveda celeste!
2 ¡Alábenlo por sus hechos poderosos!
¡Alábenlo por su grandeza infinita!

¡Alábenlo con arpa y salterio!
4 ¡Alábenlo danzando al son de panderos!
¡Alábenlo con flautas e instrumentos de cuerda!
5 ¡Alábenlo con platillos sonoros!
¡Alábenlo con platillos vibrantes!
6 ¡Que todo lo que respira alabe al Señor!

¹Now this is the commandment — the statutes and the ordinances — that the LORD your God charged me to teach you to observe in the land that you are about to cross into and occupy, ²so that you and your children and your children’s children may fear the LORD your God all the days of your life, and keep all his decrees and his commandments that I am commanding you, so that your days may be long. ³Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe them diligently, so that it may go well with you, and so that you may multiply greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has promised you.

⁴Hear, O Israel: The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. ⁵You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. ⁶Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. ⁷Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. ⁸Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead, ⁹and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

¹⁰When the LORD your God has brought you into the land that he swore to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you — a land with fine, large cities that you did not build, ¹¹houses filled with all sorts of goods that you did not fill, hewn cisterns that you did not hew, vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant — and when you have eaten your fill, ¹²take care that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. ¹³The LORD your God you shall fear; him you shall serve, and by his name alone you shall swear. ¹⁴Do not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who are all around you, ¹⁵because the LORD your God, who is present with you, is a jealous God. The anger of the LORD your God would be kindled against you and he would destroy you from the face of the earth.

¹I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, ²with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, ³making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. ⁴There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, ⁵one Lord, one faith, one baptism, ⁶one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

⁷But each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift. ⁸Therefore it is said,
     “When he ascended on high he made captivity itself a captive;
          he gave gifts to his people.”
⁹(When it says, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰He who descended is the same one who ascended far above all the heavens, so that he might fill all things.) ¹¹The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, ¹²to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, ¹³until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. ¹⁴We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming. ¹⁵But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, ¹⁶from whom the whole body, joined and knitted together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body’s growth in building itself up in love.

¹In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ²He was in the beginning with God. ³All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being ⁴in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. ⁵The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.

⁶There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. ⁷He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. ⁸He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. ⁹The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.

¹⁰He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. ¹¹He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. ¹²But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, ¹³who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.

¹⁴And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. ¹⁵(John testified to him and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’”) ¹⁶From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. ¹⁷The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. ¹⁸No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.

          alaben al Señor,
2   pues su amor por nosotros es muy grande;
          ¡la fidelidad del Señor es eterna!
     ¡Aleluya!

1   Señor, tú me has examinado y me conoces;
2   tú conoces todas mis acciones;
          aun de lejos te das cuenta de lo que pienso.
3   Sabes todas mis andanzas,
          ¡sabes todo lo que hago!
4   Aún no tengo la palabra en la lengua,
          y tú, Señor, ya la conoces.
5   Por todos lados me has rodeado;
          tienes puesta tu mano sobre mí.
6   Sabiduría tan admirable está fuera de mi alcance;
          ¡es tan alta que no alcanzo a comprenderla!

7   ¿A dónde podría ir, lejos de tu espíritu?
          ¿A dónde huiría, lejos de tu presencia?

8   Si yo subiera a las alturas de los cielos,
          allí estás tú;
          y si bajara a las profundidades de la tierra,
          también estás allí;
9   si levantara el vuelo hacia el oriente,
          o habitara en los límites del mar occidental,
10  aun allí me alcanzaría tu mano;
          ¡tu mano derecha no me soltaría!
11  Si pensara esconderme en la oscuridad,
          o que se convirtiera en noche la luz que me rodea,
12  la oscuridad no me ocultaría de ti,
          y la noche sería tan brillante como el día.
          ¡La oscuridad y la luz son lo mismo para ti!

13  Tú fuiste quien formó todo mi cuerpo;
          tú me formaste en el vientre de mi madre.
14  Te alabo porque estoy maravillado,
          porque es maravilloso lo que has hecho.
          ¡De ello estoy bien convencido!
15       No te fue oculto el desarrollo de mi cuerpo
      mientras yo era formado en lo secreto,
          mientras era formado en lo más profundo de la tierra.
16  Tus ojos vieron mi cuerpo en formación;
      todo eso estaba escrito en tu libro.
          Habías señalado los días de mi vida
          cuando aún no existía ninguno de ellos.

17  Oh Dios,
          qué profundos me son tus pensamientos;
          ¡infinito es el conjunto de ellos!
18  Si yo quisiera contarlos, serían más que la arena;
          y si acaso terminara, aún estaría contigo.

19  Oh Dios,
          quítales la vida a los malvados
          y aleja de mí a los asesinos,
20  a los que hablan mal de ti
          y se levantan en vano en contra tuya.

21  Señor,
          ¿no odio acaso a los que te odian
          y desprecio a los que te desafían?
22  ¡Los odio con toda mi alma!
          ¡Los considero mis enemigos!

23  Oh Dios,
          examíname, reconoce mi corazón;
          ponme a prueba, reconoce mis pensamientos;
24  mira si voy por el camino del mal,
          y guíame por el camino eterno.
