Morning Reading 1
Salmos 143
1 Señor, escucha mi oración;
pon atención a mi súplica.
¡Respóndeme, pues tú eres justo y fiel!
2 No llames a cuentas a tu siervo,
porque ante ti nadie es inocente.
3 Mis enemigos me persiguen,
me han aplastado contra el suelo;
me obligan a vivir en la oscuridad,
como los que han muerto hace tiempo.
4 Me encuentro totalmente deprimido;
Selah
7 Señor, ¡respóndeme pronto,
pues ya se me acaba el aliento!
No me niegues tu ayuda,
10 Enséñame a hacer tu voluntad,
porque tú eres mi Dios.
¡Que tu buen espíritu me lleve
por un camino recto!
11 Por tu nombre, Señor, ¡hazme vivir!
Porque eres justo, ¡sácame de la angustia!
12 Porque eres fiel, ¡destruye a mis enemigos!
¡destruye a todos mis enemigos, pues yo soy tu siervo!
Morning Reading 2
Salmos 147:12-20
12 Jerusalén, alaba al Señor;
Sión, alaba a tu Dios.
17 Él envía el hielo en forma de granizo;
18 Pero envía su palabra, y la derrite;
hace soplar el viento, y el agua corre.
19 Él dio a conocer a Jacob, a Israel,
¡Aleluya!
First Reading
Isaiah 49:13-23 (24-26)
13 Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth;
break forth, O mountains, into singing!
For the LORD has comforted his people,
and will have compassion on his suffering ones.
14 But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,
my Lord has forgotten me.”
15 Can a woman forget her nursing child,
or show no compassion for the child of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.
16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me.
17 Your builders outdo your destroyers,
and those who laid you waste go away from you.
18 Lift up your eyes all around and see;
they all gather, they come to you.
As I live, says the LORD,
you shall put all of them on like an ornament,
and like a bride you shall bind them on.
19 Surely your waste and your desolate places
and your devastated land —
surely now you will be too crowded for your inhabitants,
and those who swallowed you up will be far away.
20 The children born in the time of your bereavement
will yet say in your hearing:
“The place is too crowded for me;
make room for me to settle.”
21 Then you will say in your heart,
“Who has borne me these?
I was bereaved and barren,
exiled and put away —
so who has reared these?
I was left all alone —
where then have these come from?”
22 Thus says the Lord GOD:
I will soon lift up my hand to the nations,
and raise my signal to the peoples;
and they shall bring your sons in their bosom,
and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.
23 Kings shall be your foster fathers,
and their queens your nursing mothers.
With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you,
and lick the dust of your feet.
Then you will know that I am the LORD;
those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.
24 Can the prey be taken from the mighty,
or the captives of a tyrant be rescued?
25 But thus says the LORD:
Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken,
for I will contend with those who contend with you,
and I will save your children.
26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh,
and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with wine.
Then all flesh shall know
that I am the LORD your Savior,
and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
Second Reading
Galatians 3:1-14
1You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly exhibited as crucified! 2The only thing I want to learn from you is this: Did you receive the Spirit by doing the works of the law or by believing what you heard? 3Are you so foolish? Having started with the Spirit, are you now ending with the flesh? 4Did you experience so much for nothing? — if it really was for nothing. 5Well then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by your doing the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
6Just as Abraham “believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” 7so, you see, those who believe are the descendants of Abraham. 8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, declared the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “All the Gentiles shall be blessed in you.” 9For this reason, those who believe are blessed with Abraham who believed.
10For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the things written in the book of the law.” 11Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law; for “The one who is righteous will live by faith.” 12But the law does not rest on faith; on the contrary, “Whoever does the works of the law will live by them.” 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us — for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” — 14in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Gospel Reading
Mark 6:30-46
30The apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. 31He said to them, “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. 32And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves. 33Now many saw them going and recognized them, and they hurried there on foot from all the towns and arrived ahead of them. 34As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things. 35When it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now very late; 36send them away so that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy something for themselves to eat.” 37But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give it to them to eat?” 38And he said to them, “How many loaves have you? Go and see.” When they had found out, they said, “Five, and two fish.” 39Then he ordered them to get all the people to sit down in groups on the green grass. 40So they sat down in groups of hundreds and of fifties. 41Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and he divided the two fish among them all. 42And all ate and were filled; 43and they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. 44Those who had eaten the loaves numbered five thousand men.
45Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46After saying farewell to them, he went up on the mountain to pray.
Evening Reading 1
Salmos 81
que el Dios de Jacob dio a Israel;
te he aliviado del trabajo duro.
7 (8) En tu angustia me llamaste, y te salvé;
te contesté desde la nube que tronaba;
8 (9) Escucha, pueblo mío, mi advertencia;
¡ojalá me obedezcas, Israel!
9 (10) No tengas dioses extranjeros;
no adores dioses extraños.
10 (11) Yo soy el Señor, tu Dios,
el que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto;
abre tu boca, y yo te satisfaré.
11 (12) »Pero mi pueblo no quiso oírme;
¡Israel no quiso obedecerme!
13 (14) ¡Si mi pueblo me hubiera escuchado!
5 El Señor es justo y compasivo;
¡Aleluya!
