Salmos 104
1 ¡Bendeciré al Señor con toda mi alma!
¡Cuán grande eres, Señor y Dios mío!
Te has vestido de gloria y esplendor;
Conviertes las nubes en tu carro;
7 Pero tú la reprendiste, y se fue;
11 De esa agua beben los animales salvajes;
anidan las aves del cielo;
desde tu casa, allá en lo alto;
19 Hiciste la luna para medir el tiempo;
el sol sabe cuándo debe ocultarse.
20 Tiendes el manto oscuro de la noche,
y entonces salen los animales del bosque.
21 Los leones rugen por la víctima;
piden que Dios les dé su comida.
22 Pero al salir el sol, se van
y se acuestan en sus cuevas.
23 Entonces sale el hombre a su labor
y trabaja hasta la noche.
24 ¡Cuántas cosas has hecho, Señor!
Todas las hiciste con sabiduría;
grandes y pequeños;
28 Tú les das, y ellos recogen;
abres la mano, y se llenan de lo mejor;
29 si escondes tu rostro, se espantan;
32 La tierra tiembla cuando él la mira;
33 Mientras yo exista y tenga vida,
cantaré himnos al Señor mi Dios.
34 Quiera el Señor agradarse de mis pensamientos,
pues sólo en él encuentro mi alegría.
35 ¡Que desaparezcan de la tierra los pecadores!
¡Que dejen de existir los malvados!
¡Bendeciré al Señor con toda mi alma!
¡Aleluya!

First Reading
Isaiah 40:1-11
1 Comfort, O comfort my people, says your God.
2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem,
and cry to her
that she has served her term,
that her penalty is paid,
that she has received from the Lord’s hand
double for all her sins.
3 A voice cries out
“In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD,
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
and the rough places a plain.
5 Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all people shall see it together,
for the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”
6 A voice says, “Cry out!”
And I said, “What shall I cry?”
All people are grass,
their constancy is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades,
when the breath of the LORD blows upon it;
surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades;
but the word of our God will stand forever.
9 Get you up to a high mountain,
O Zion, herald of good tidings;
lift up your voice with strength,
O Jerusalem, herald of good tidings,
lift it up, do not fear;
say to the cities of Judah,
“Here is your God!”
10 See, the Lord GOD comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms,
and carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead the mother sheep.
Second Reading
Hebrews 1:1-12
1Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets, 2but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also created the worlds. 3He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
5For to which of the angels did God ever say,
“You are my Son;
today I have begotten you”?
Or again,
“I will be his Father
and he will be my Son”?
6And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says,
“Let all God’s angels worship him.”
7Of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels winds,
and his servants flames of fire.”
8But of the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”
10And,
“In the beginning, Lord, you founded the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands;
11 they will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like clothing;
12 like a cloak you will roll them up,
and like clothing they will be changed.
But you are the same,
and your years will never end.”
Gospel Reading
John 1:1-7, 19-20, 29-34
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being 4in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. 5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.
19This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” 20He confessed and did not deny it, but confessed, “I am not the Messiah.”
29The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me.’ 31I myself did not know him; but I came baptizing with water for this reason, that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32And John testified, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. 33I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34And I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.”
Evening Reading
Salmos 29
3 La voz del Señor resuena sobre el mar;
el Dios glorioso hace tronar:
¡el Señor está sobre el mar inmenso!
4 La voz del Señor resuena con fuerza;
la voz del Señor resuena imponente;
5 la voz del Señor desgaja los cedros.
¡El Señor desgaja los cedros del Líbano!
6 Hace temblar los montes Líbano y Sirión;
¡los hace saltar como toros y becerros!
7 La voz del Señor lanza llamas de fuego;
8 la voz del Señor hace temblar al desierto;
10 El Señor gobierna las lluvias;
¡el Señor gobierna cual rey eterno!
11 El Señor da fuerza a su pueblo;
