Salmos 135
1 ¡Aleluya!
Alaben el nombre del Señor;
3 Alaben al Señor, porque él es bueno;
4 Pues escogió a Jacob, a Israel,
y a todos los reyes de Canaán;
13 Señor, tu nombre es eterno;
por siempre serás recordado.
14 El Señor hace justicia a su pueblo;
16 Tienen boca, pero no pueden hablar;
tienen ojos, pero no pueden ver;
17 tienen orejas, pero no pueden oír;
¡ni siquiera tienen vida!
18 Iguales a esos ídolos
son quienes los fabrican
y quienes en ellos creen.
19 Israelitas, bendigan al Señor;
sacerdotes, bendigan al Señor;
20 levitas, bendigan al Señor;
ustedes que honran al Señor, bendíganlo.
21 ¡Bendito sea en Sión
el Señor, el que vive en Jerusalén!
¡Aleluya!
Morning Reading 2
Salmos 145
(1a) Alabanza de David.
1 (1b) Hablaré de tu grandeza, mi Dios y Rey;
bendeciré tu nombre por siempre.
2 Diariamente te bendeciré;
alabaré tu nombre por siempre.
3 El Señor es grande y muy digno de alabanza;
19 Él cumple los deseos de los que lo honran;
ahora y siempre!
First Reading
Isaiah 63:1-6
1 “Who is this that comes from Edom,
from Bozrah in garments stained crimson?
Who is this so splendidly robed,
marching in his great might?”
“It is I, announcing vindication,
mighty to save.”
2 “Why are your robes red,
and your garments like theirs who tread the wine press?”
3 “I have trodden the wine press alone,
and from the peoples no one was with me;
I trod them in my anger
and trampled them in my wrath;
their juice spattered on my garments,
and stained all my robes.
4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart,
and the year for my redeeming work had come.
5 I looked, but there was no helper;
I stared, but there was no one to sustain me;
so my own arm brought me victory,
and my wrath sustained me.
6 I trampled down peoples in my anger,
I crushed them in my wrath,
and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”
Second Reading
1 Timothy 1:1-17
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2To Timothy, my loyal child in the faith:
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3I urge you, as I did when I was on my way to Macedonia, to remain in Ephesus so that you may instruct certain people not to teach any different doctrine, 4and not to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies that promote speculations rather than the divine training that is known by faith. 5But the aim of such instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith. 6Some people have deviated from these and turned to meaningless talk, 7desiring to be teachers of the law, without understanding either what they are saying or the things about which they make assertions.
8Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it legitimately. 9This means understanding that the law is laid down not for the innocent but for the lawless and disobedient, for the godless and sinful, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their father or mother, for murderers, 10fornicators, sodomites, slave traders, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching 11that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me.
12I am grateful to Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because he judged me faithful and appointed me to his service, 13even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a man of violence. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, 14and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners — of whom I am the foremost. 16But for that very reason I received mercy, so that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display the utmost patience, making me an example to those who would come to believe in him for eternal life. 17To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.
Gospel Reading
Mark 11:1-11
1When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples 2and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. 3If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ just say this, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.’” 4They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, 5some of the bystanders said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” 6They told them what Jesus had said; and they allowed them to take it. 7Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it. 8Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. 9Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,
“Hosanna!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
11Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple; and when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the twelve.
Evening Reading 1
Salmos 97
1 ¡Alégrese toda la tierra!
¡Alégrense las islas numerosas!
¡El Señor es Rey!
2 Está rodeado de espesas nubes;
la justicia y el derecho sostienen su trono;
4 Sus relámpagos iluminan el mundo;
6 Los cielos anuncian su justicia;
todos los pueblos ven su gloria.
7 Quedan humillados los que adoran ídolos,
los que se sienten orgullosos de ellos.
¡Todos los dioses se inclinan ante él!
8 Oh Señor,
Sión y las ciudades de Judá
se alegran mucho por tus decretos;
10 El Señor ama a los que odian el mal;
protege la vida de los que le son fieles;
11 La luz brilla para el hombre bueno;
la alegría es para la gente honrada.
12 ¡Alégrense en el Señor, hombres buenos,
y alaben su santo nombre!
Evening Reading 2
Salmos 112
1 ¡Aleluya!
y maneja con honradez sus negocios;
6 por eso jamás llegará a caer.
¡El hombre justo será siempre recordado!
7 No tiene miedo de malas noticias;
10 El malvado se enfurece al verlo;
en su impotencia rechina los dientes.
La ambición de los malvados fracasará.
