Salmos 97
1 ¡Alégrese toda la tierra!
¡Alégrense las islas numerosas!
¡El Señor es Rey!
2 Está rodeado de espesas nubes;
la justicia y el derecho sostienen su trono;
4 Sus relámpagos iluminan el mundo;
6 Los cielos anuncian su justicia;
todos los pueblos ven su gloria.
7 Quedan humillados los que adoran ídolos,
los que se sienten orgullosos de ellos.
¡Todos los dioses se inclinan ante él!
8 Oh Señor,
Sión y las ciudades de Judá
se alegran mucho por tus decretos;
10 El Señor ama a los que odian el mal;
protege la vida de los que le son fieles;
11 La luz brilla para el hombre bueno;
la alegría es para la gente honrada.
12 ¡Alégrense en el Señor, hombres buenos,
y alaben su santo nombre!
Morning Reading 2
Salmos 147:12-20
12 Jerusalén, alaba al Señor;
Sión, alaba a tu Dios.
17 Él envía el hielo en forma de granizo;
18 Pero envía su palabra, y la derrite;
hace soplar el viento, y el agua corre.
19 Él dio a conocer a Jacob, a Israel,
¡Aleluya!
First Reading
Proverbs 7:1-27
1My child, keep my words
and store up my commandments with you;
2keep my commandments and live,
keep my teachings as the apple of your eye;
3bind them on your fingers,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4Say to wisdom, "You are my sister,"
and call insight your intimate friend,
5that they may keep you from the loose woman,
from the adulteress with her smooth words.
6For at the window of my house
I looked out through my lattice,
7and I saw among the simple ones,
I observed among the youths,
a young man without sense,
8passing along the street near her corner,
taking the road to her house
9in the twilight, in the evening,
at the time of night and darkness.
10Then a woman comes toward him,
decked out like a prostitute, wily of heart.
11She is loud and wayward;
her feet do not stay at home;
12now in the street, now in the squares,
and at every corner she lies in wait.
13She seizes him and kisses him,
and with impudent face she says to him:
14"I had to offer sacrifices,
and today I have paid my vows;
15so now I have come out to meet you,
to seek you eagerly, and I have found you!
16I have decked my couch with coverings,
colored spreads of Egyptian linen;
17I have perfumed my bed with myrrh,
aloes, and cinnamon.
18Come, let us take our fill of love until morning;
let us delight ourselves with love.
19For my husband is not at home;
he has gone on a long journey.
20He took a bag of money with him;
he will not come home until full moon."
21With much seductive speech she persuades him;
with her smooth talk she compels him.
22Right away he follows her,
and goes like an ox to the slaughter,
or bounds like a stag towards the trap,
23until an arrow pierces its entrails.
He is like a bird rushing into a snare,
not knowing that it will cost him his life.
24And now, my children, listen to me,
and be attentive to the words of my mouth.
25Do not let your hearts turn aside to her ways;
do not stray into her paths.
26for many are those she has laid low,
and numerous are her victims.
27Her house is the way to Sheol,
going down to the chambers of death.
Second Reading
1 John 5:13-21
13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
14And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him. 16If you see your brother or sister committing what is not a mortal sin, you will ask, and God will give life to such a one to those whose sin is not mortal. There is sin that is mortal; I do not say that you should pray about that. 17All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not mortal.
18We know that those who are born of God do not sin, but the one who was born of God protects them, and the evil one does not touch them. 19We know that we are Gods children, and that the whole world lies under the power of the evil one. 20And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
21Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
Gospel Reading
Matthew 11:25-30
25At that time Jesus said, "I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; 26yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. 27All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
28"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Evening Reading 1
Salmos 16
2 Yo te he dicho:
«Tú eres mi Señor, mi bien;
5 Tú, Señor, eres mi todo;
tú me colmas de bendiciones;
mi vida está en tus manos.
6 Primoroso lugar me ha tocado en suerte;
8 Siempre tengo presente al Señor;
Hay gran alegría en tu presencia;
hay dicha eterna junto a ti.
Evening Reading 2
Salmos 62
1 Sólo en Dios encuentro paz;
mi salvación viene de él.
2 Sólo él me salva y me protege,
mi refugio; no caeré jamás.
Se deleitan en la mentira;
me alaban con los labios,
pero me maldicen por dentro. Selah
5 Sólo en Dios encuentro paz,
pues mi esperanza viene de él.
6 Sólo él me salva y me protege,
mi refugio; no caeré.
7 De Dios dependen mi salvación y mi honor;
la gente poderosa es pura ilusión;
puestos juntos en la balanza,
pesan menos que un soplo.
10 No confíen en la violencia,
ni se ilusionen con el robo;
