In 1988, Presbyterian Women was created, bringing together women’s organizations from the two denominations that had merged to become the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Practices, programs and faithful women from both United Presbyterian Women (United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A.) and Women of the Church (Presbyterian Church in the United States) were joined to form Presbyterian Women.

Voting representatives to the 2012 PW Business Meeting convened in Orlando, Florida, recommended that a task group be formed to create a statement regarding PW in churches seeking dismissal from the PC(USA). National moderator, Mary Jorgenson, appointed PW members and leaders Carol Winkler, Marilynn Collins, Esperanza Guajardo, Dolly Patterson, and Carolyn Sprinkle to the task group. PC(USA) legal counsel April Davenport and PW program coordinator Ann Ferguson staffed the group. Download the information piece here.
