At a presentation to the Executive Committee of the Presbyterian Mission Agency of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Earline Williams, deputy executive director and temporary co-manager of the PMA, painted a financial picture of the Agency that, for the time being, is optimistic.

The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program publishes an annual Advent Devotional book for congregational use during the liturgical season leading up to Christmas. This year, the Advent Devotional hold special significance in that it features reflections centered on the Belhar Confession. Written in South Africa by members of the Dutch Reformed Mission Church in the late 1980’s, the Belhar Confession rejects the ideas behind apartheid, or “separateness,” and states the moral and theological justification of it is a travesty of the Gospel.

The final night of the Presbyterians for Earth Care 2015 Conference in Montreat was a time for attendees to celebrate the fellowship and accomplishments of PEC’s 20 years of service. The second full day of the Presbyterians for Earth Care 2015 Conference began with a call for change. The Rev. Dr. Patricia (Trisha) Tull led a plenary on creating social movement for change. She said there has never been a climate crisis as unprecedented in earth’s history as there is now. But she adds that the key for true change lies within the mindset of people.
The 2015 Women of Color Consultation, sponsored by Racial Ethnic & Women’s Ministries, will be held Nov. 12 -14 in Greensboro, N.C. Approximately one hundred women in various leadership roles from across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)—including young women, racial ethnic and new immigrant women, seminarians and women at the local congregational level—will gather for the event.
For 15-year old Chris Omelchuk, Beacon—a new church development under the umbrella of the Presbyterian Church, (U.S.A.) and a designated 1001 New Worshiping Community—has been a godsend. Growing up in a post-industrial neighborhood in Philadelphia, Omelchuk was struggling in middle school with issues of bullying. He was being teased and made fun of, being told things like “you’re a fruit.” Then he discovered Beacon’s after-school program.
