Columbia Theological Seminary announces the activities around the inauguration of its 11th president, the Rev. Dr. Victor Aloyo, the first minority president in the institution’s 194-year history.

“Practicing Inclusion,” the most recent webinar in the Leader Formation series, offered ruling elders and deacons a chance to learn about implicit bias. The 90-minute Zoom gathering also gave practical advice on group approaches to working through that common obstacle to inclusion.

The Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies is a consortium of three universities — the Universitas Gadjah Mada (a non-confessional state-owned university), Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga (a state-owned Islamic university) and Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana (a private Christian university) — all located in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The Committee on the Office of the General Assembly has signed off on a new format for the 226th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Last summer, the 225th General Assembly voted for a hybrid Assembly in 2024 with a few changes. Committees will be meeting virtually while plenaries will be held in person in Salt Lake City.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance’s Story Productions, which has presented award-winning documentaries such as “Flint: The Poisoning of an American City” and “Trigger: The Ripple Effect of Gun Violence,” is at work on a new film looking at the impacts of industrial pollution and environmental racism.

A group of us representing the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) were present at the World Council of Churches (WCC) Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany, in September, where “Christ’s Love Moves the World to Reconciliation and Unity” was the theme.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to stewardship or generosity. In a rich conversation about unleashing generosity in culturally specific ways, the Rev. Lucille “CeCee” Mills challenged pastors and church leaders during her workshop at Stewardship Kaleidoscope, an annual conference focused on stewardship, generosity and finances for churches. It was held both virtually and in person in Savannah, Georgia, Sept. 26-28.

This year the Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago (PCTT) had one of the youngest delegations to the World Council of Churches assembly. The PCTT also afforded me the opportunity to attend the 225th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), making both assemblies an attempt at returning to fellowship in person.
