As the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) engages in a yearlong, churchwide season of study on the proposed revisions to the Directory for Worship, the Presbyterian Mission Agency’s office of Theology and Worship has provided a resource to encourage reflection and comment on this document.

“Given the nature of the task and the timing of other pending PMA board decisions, the committee anticipates it will need an additional meeting to complete the assigned work,” said Eliana Maxim, chair of the review committee and associate executive presbyter of the Presbytery of Seattle. “Also, a PMA board motion naming the review committee passed during the board’s last meeting may expand the scope of the committee’s work.”

Washington Office, and other religious leaders joined striking U.S. Senate contract janitors and food service workers to urge President Obama to support efforts to raise wages. Hundreds walked off their jobs to protest low wages and benefits. They’ve joined striking workers from the U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian Institution and other federal landmarks where private companies receive lucrative contracts to run food, janitorial and other services.

The Board of Trustees for Columbia Theological Seminary, a seminary of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), voted unanimously on April 14, 2015, to appoint Leanne Van Dyk as the school’s tenth president. She is currently the Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professor of Reformed Theology at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Mich. Van Dyk’s appointment is effective July 1, 2015.
