Every year, thousands of members of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs)—both faith-based and not—gather in New York City during the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW). Groups exert tremendous amounts of energy to influence the commission’s outcome document, and to enforce the resolutions and conventions on which UN member states have agreed. Immigration Issues and the New Form of Government
With greater freedom and flexibility, the New Form of Government encourages congregations and councils to focus on God’s mission and how they can faithfully participate in this mission. In offering a structure that is more horizontal than hierarchical, the new Form of Government encourages the church to be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit as it seeks to be Christ’s body and live out its calling as a community of faith, hope, love and witness.

The Office of Immigration Issues updated the DREAM Act Tool Kit to include information on the ACHIEVE Act, which was introduced in the last weeks of 2012. The DREAM Act would provide a pathway to citizenship for youth and young adults brought as children to the U.S. without authorization. These youth share American values but lack the paperwork to be able to reach the American dream. They deserve a commonsense approach to earn the rights and responsibilities of U.S. Citizenship and this country needs their passion and commitment. Download …
