More than 800 people from more than 55 Christian denominations met in Washington, D.C., April 5–9, for the 10th annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days national gathering. Ecumenical Advocacy Days is a movement of the ecumenical Christian community and its recognized partners and allies. Its goal, through worship, theological reflection and opportunities for learning and witness, is to strengthen the Christian voice and to mobilize for advocacy on a wide variety of U.S. domestic and international policy issues. Each year, Ecumenical Advocacy Days (EAD) focuses on a different theme, with workshops throughout the weekend centered around the theme. This year, the event focused on food justice, namely the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act of 2013, commonly referred to as the “Farm Bill.”
This issue of Justice and Peace Links spotlights the 2013 Ecumenical Advocacy Days, and ways to advocate for food justice. This resource also includes reflections from participants, resources and discussion questions for further study and biblical foundations for this work.
