With the recent ratification of one amendment proposed by the 219th General Assembly (2010), leaders of the task force responsible for suggesting another major change are encouraging the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to be bold in envisioning the future of the church.
Hundreds of Zimbabweans from various Christian denominations held prayers May 25 for peace ahead of possible elections later this year. “We hear threats and rumors of elections, and have seen tell-tale signs of political violence raising its ugly head again,” said Dr. Goodwill Shana, chairman of the Heads of Christian Denominations, at the Zimbabwe National Day of Prayer.

Springtime weather this year has been horrific, especially this week. “I’m still trying to figure it out — How does seminary and a master’s degree and teaching fit with roasting coffee and sourcing it and selling it?” wondered Benjamin Schellack. “I’m not sure I know the answer.”
Schellack, in addition to being a student at Princeton Theological Seminary (though on a leave of absence), is also the founder and owner of Old Queens Coffee Company (O.Q. coffee co) in New Brunswick, N.J.
Schellack didn’t set out to become a coffee roaster — he didn’t even like coffee not that long ago. He was pretty much set on getting a Ph.D. after he finished a year of study at the Gregorian University in Rome.

The Walton Award — given to five congregations this year — is an annual award for new church developments that further Presbyterian mission in their communities.
Chartered in May of 2008, Chapel in the Pines already boasts 120 members. The church will use the grant money to help construct its first building.
