Stated Clerk Nomination Committee seeks assistance

July 22, 2015

Louisville, KY

The Stated Clerk Nomination Committee of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has begun its work. It is to bring a nomination for the denomination’s highest ecclesiastical officer, the Stated Clerk of the General Assembly, to the 222nd General Assembly (2016) in Portland, Oregon, June 18–25, 2016.

It is the committee’s hope and prayer to bring to the assembly the strongest possible nominee for this important position, and therefore it is seeking assistance as it discerns the qualities and characteristics most needed in this office. Please take a few minutes to complete a short survey by no later than August 14. Just click on this link or copy it into your browser:

The committee will meet next in early September. Please know it will consider carefully the responses and comments. The committee covets, and will be grateful for, prayers as it engages in this work for the church.

  2. Is there anyone on the current PCUSA staff being considered for the position? I would think that local talent, familiar with the current structure, may be added to the pool of potential candidates.

  5. This survey should be also in other languages, especially Spanish and Korean. A significant number of Presbyterians cannot understand English. If our church wants to be fully inclusive it must be polyglot. The 2012 GA approved a recommendation to translate "essential documents" into Spanish and Korean. This is definitely an essential document.
