The committee tasked with nominating the next Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) had received 21 requests for application packets as of October 26. The deadline for receiving completed applications is midnight, Eastern Standard Time,
on December 21.
“There is no doubt in our minds that the church is living in a defining moment,” the Reverend Carol McDonald, moderator of the Stated Clerk Nomination Committee (SCNC), said. “All around us is the search for vision, direction, stability, and focus.”
The deadline to receive applications is 180 days from the opening of the 222nd General Assembly (2016), which will begin on June 18, in Portland, Oregon. The committee must declare its nominee no later than 60 days before the opening of the assembly, which is April 19, 2016.

McDonald said the committee covets the prayers of every Presbyterian as it discerns who God is calling to serve as the next Stated Clerk.
“We pray that we will present to the 222nd General Assembly a nominee who, with energy, intelligence, imagination, and love, will guide the PC(USA) during this time of transition and lead us to claim the vision for God’s church for the 21st century,” she said.
