Starting August 1, 2014 Congregational Ministries Publishing (CMP) and Presbyterian Publishing Corporation (PPC) will collaborate to provide joint distribution of all resources. A new e-commerce website, pcusastore.com, will launch November 1, 2014.
The new website will provide easy navigation and the opportunity for customers to manage their accounts and track orders, while still allowing PC(USA) churches the convenience of billing to their current church PIN. Those wishing to order by phone may call 800.533.4371. Representatives are available at that number to answer customer inquiries in English, Spanish, and Korean.
This exciting collaboration stems from a recent report from the General Assembly Committee on Review, which made the following recommendation to the 220th General Assembly: That a comprehensive and collaborative review be undertaken by all agencies involved in publishing to determine if there is duplication of services and resources that does not serve the mission of the church as effectively as possible, and that PPC initiate such a review.
Representatives of the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA) and PPC met over the last year to determine any areas of duplication and quickly identified distribution and web sales as a significant area of overlap.
“Combining our distribution and web sales with PPC will provide an easy one-stop shopping experience for our constituency,” said Clare Lewis, publisher for CMP. “It will enable CMP to take advantage of the advances in publishing technology, which will ensure low prices on our resources.”
While the new website will not officially launch until November 1, 2014, the URL pcusastore.com will be functional by August 1 to coincide with joint distribution through PPC. Questions regarding the change in distribution and the new website may be directed to curriculum@pcusa.org.
